OK, it's no fun... yet...it is. Check the whole video, a good compilation! Republicans will love this! Isn't an Election Day close by, anyway? It seems like THEIR Halloween Party may have an unwanted extension...
Let me add to the nice mix of self-righteous Christian prophets of the day another fresh (Republican, but do I need to say that?) newbie among boy-pants diggers: WA State Legislature Rep. from Spokane, Richard Curtis. Bless his heart!
He was at the WA State Republican Party Convention in Spokane and had nothing better to do than a little socializing in between sessions. Namely, he picked up a gay prostitute to have a little fun in his hotel room.
Now, I could sympathize with him. I am a good Christian, he is a good Christian. It must be boring to listen to the tirades of his colleagues about how the rest of the world's immorality (from liberals' to skeptics') directs us all to Hell. I could - if his Congress record didn't clearly show that this spring, the God-fearing Congressman Curtis voted against domestic partnerships for gay and lesbian couples, and last year, he opposed a gay rights bill that banned discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. Domestic partnership no good, a hotel-room one-night partnership OK? Preaching water, drinking wine? I smell hypocrisy. Don't you?
Of course, although he admits he had a gay prostitute in his hotel room, Curtis says there was no sex (sigh of relief) and he isn't gay. Got it? He just wanted to socialize with a total stranger he picked up in the street, who happened to be a prostitute, who turned up to be gay, but Curtis (of course) is not, and didn't (of course) have sex with that stranger.
A credit to him, however: Unlike Mr.Bigstoryteller aka Larry Craig from Idaho, Congressman Curtis immediately resigned as of today due to "events that have recently come to light", and that "have hurt a lot of people". Hm. If all that came to light is truly just a visitor in his hotel room, I don't understand why THAT should prompt him to resign immediately. Such a fact should not hurt anyone. I have friends visiting in my house all the time and no one seems to be hurt by that... I assume he must know what we don't know, and IT apparently "didn't come to light yet", right?
Maybe Mr. Curtis should have taken James Dobson's advice (J.D., "The Most Influential Evangelical Leader" in America, a founder of Focus on the Family non-profit organization with quite conservative agenda). In his June 2002 Focus on the Family Newsletter, Dobson endorses advice by Dr. Nicolosi on preventing homosexuality in boys. The advice proposed that fathers take their sons into the shower with them where "the boy cannot help but notice that Dad has a penis, just like his, only bigger".
Little Richard's Dad either didn't do his job, or he did but his penis was not just like lil Richard's, or it was like lil Richard's, but smaller...
To which I only add: Amen.
